Group Leader Job Description (Animal Husbandry / Animal Care)

Education/Requirement:

• Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be certified through AALAS at the ALAT level
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Business command of the English language

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support technicians or animal care staff during daily tasks
• Assign workloads and ensure schedules are followed efficiently
• Monitor animal health, welfare, and environmental conditions
• Ensure proper feeding, cleaning, sanitation, and enrichment procedures
• Maintain accurate records (animal counts, treatments, room checks, supplies)
• Perform quality control checks to ensure compliance with protocols
• Communicate with supervisors/managers about issues, staffing, or operational needs
• Lead by example with professionalism, productivity, and teamwork
• Troubleshoot problems quickly (equipment, staffing, animal concerns)
